Writing in APUSH
On the APUSH exam, 60% of your score is based on writing. This page and the resources linked to it will help you to improve your scores on each of the three writing components.
Short Answer QuestionsThe APUSH exam includes 4 SAQ (Short Answer Questions), each with 3 parts that tests content knowledge and historical thinking skills. The SAQ is worth 20% of your score.

Long Essay QuestionThe APUSH exam offers 2 essay prompts, of which you will be expected to write on one. The LEQ is 15% of your score and tests content knowledge and historical thinking skills.

Document Based QuestionThe APUSH exam includes one Document Based Question (DBQ). It is worth 25% of your grade and tests your ability to analyze documents in addition to content knowledge.
